The best introduction to the unusual
art of Sandro Del Prete is in his two books, "Illusorisms" and "Illusoria".

They contain a clear overview of the drawing side of his work. "Illusorisms"
divides his art into chapters according to the main themes of it's creation:
appearance or reality; the discovery of illusorism; and impossible objects
and views as well as metamorphoses and double pictures of people and landscapes.
In "Appearance or reality" Del Prete takes into consideration questions
of dimension, reflection, dreams, and fantasy and reality with the help
of different drawings. These drawings have appropriate names like "Imaginary
world of paintings" or "Desert illusion". "Impossible objects and views"
plays with forms and levels that flow into each other as well as the possible
existence of a fourth dimension. Finally, the "Metamorphoses and double
pictures of people and landscapes" are especially fascinating for the
eye: there, for example, you can discover a scenic mountain landscape
in the face of a mountain spirit or ghost. In his second book "Illusoria",
using stories, he plays with various illusions and deceptions and he opens
the door for the onlooker to the exciting craziness of this type of art.
Together with the books, the numerous litho prints (50 x 70 cm) form an
important part of the artistic work of Sandro Del Prete.
